For nearly a decade now, I’ve been a River Norther. You’re probably thinking this means I have no soul or character, when actually, it means I have no car. So, for much of the “real” Chicago I havehad to rely on the fine folks of the CTA. But now downtowners can get a taste of reality in the heart of the city thanks to the heroes at Hideout Riverwalk!
The original dive bar darling Hideout, known for its dark and dirty debauchery for twenty years now, usually puts on a three day block party. This year they got way more ambitious and opened a pop-up on Chicago’s shiny new Riverwalk. For ten weeks they’ll be serving drinks and hosting concerts daily (except Wednesdays).
Sure they’ll offer five cocktail selections, but when is the next time you’ll be on the river with a cheap, cold, canned PBR? Not at City Winery… This place is meant to unite the loop suits and the rest of us together as we sit back and listen to some fun tunes and have some tasty food. And I for one am excited.
Located between State and Wabash streets
Open daily until Nov. 1. Until 9pm-ish.
Live music (all ages) from 5:30-7:30 every weekday (except Wednesdays) and 1:00pm-3:00pm on Sundays.
